Over 60 delegates joined us on 6 June for the Finalsite UK + Google for Education Digital Marketing Workshop. It was a highlight of the 2019 event calendar so far! The workshop was delivered at the Google Academy office in London Victoria and featured five key speakers and gave delegates the opportunity to explore best practices in school marketing and collaborate on new ideas.
Key Takeaways
Finalsite's CEO and Founder, Jon Moser, kicked off the first session on Current Web Trends for Schools. He highlighted the rapid change in the way that millennial parents are searching for schools, as they turn to Google before visiting a school’s website. Anna Artemyeva from Google for Education gave a thought-provoking presentation, Building a Culture of Innovation, and described how risk-taking and thoughtful failures are part of learning and arriving at truly transformative solutions.
Olivia Malaure, Finalsite's UK Marketing manager delved into inbound marketing. She shared tips on creating authentic stories to show website visitors what it’s like to be a member of your school community. Dr. David Willows and Suzette Parlevliet from International School of Brussels explored the lifecycle of their school's engagement process and highlighted that prospective families want to have real conversations, to be listened to and to visit a simple homepage that helps users to navigate for information.
This was then followed by Connecting the Pieces of the Admissions Puzzle, presented by Nicki Scott, Head of UK Sales at Finalsite. Nicki explored the benefits of data integration, and how having a content management system that integrates with other sytems, gives you all the functionality to market and communicate to your chosen audience. She also expanded on how integrations can enable the admissions, marketing and communications team to work collaboratively together.
The #wowmoment Competition
Let’s not forget the fun part! Delegates battled it out in a friendly competition by tweeting their #wowmoments that inspired them and there was no shortage of those! (You can take a look at some of the quirky photos shared on @FinalsiteUK!) It was a tough battle and hard to choose, but, we’re pleased to congratulate winners, Natasha Lee from GISMA Business School and Claudine Hakim from International School of London, followed by the runner-up Jordon-Lee Squibb from St Dunstan's College.
